Announcing Recitales Exquisitos and Sala Broadwood Chamber Music Recital Series

I am pleased to announce the premiere season of the chamber music series Recitales Exquisitos, to be held at the Palacio de Fernán Núñez in Madrid (Spain) and the  Sala Broadwood Music Series, at the Museum of Antique Musical Instruments of the Royal Superior Conservatory of Music of Madrid (Spain); founded by the Spanish pianist Emilio González Sanz, both of these series are joint collaborations between 11personas Kulturforum and said institutions. Receiving the full support of both the Palacio de Fernán Núñez, which is the headquarters of the Foundation of the Spanish Railroad System (RENFE/ADIF), and the Royal Conservatory, both of these series boasts of the full endorsement and support of the Instrumenta (The Spanish Society for the Study of Historic Instruments and Museum Collections).

The series has as its purpose to present thematic chamber music concerts featuring international caliber artists to further enrich the musical culture of the city of Madrid, as well as highlighting the impressive patrimony of Madrid’s palaces and museums, by holding the concert series at both of these remarkable Madrid venues. At the Palacio de Fernán Núñez the instrument is a Blütner piano, circa 1900; at the Museum of Antique Musical Instruments a Broadwood piano, circa 1830. The motto of the series is “Romanticism from a fresh viewpoint”. We hope you can join us.

About the Palacio de Fernán Nuñez:  The construction of the palace began in the Neoclassical style in 1790. The actual configuration is a product of the remodelation that was realized by the Conde de Cervellón, husband of the daughter of the I Duke of Fernán Núñez, with the purpose of making into one of the most magnificent residences of Madrid in the mid 19th century. The reform affected primarily the interior, as the first edification was adapted to the dominant romantic aesthetic of the time.  The foundation website is:  http://www.ffe.es/principal_en.asp

About the Antique Musical Instrument Museum at the Royal Conservatory (Superior) of Madrid:

La actual exhibition of the collection was premiered in May of 2007. This constituted the first public showing of the collection of instruments of the Royal Conservatory Superior of Music of Madrid. Included are antique instruments, scores, methods and other objects, some that were purchased for use in the classroom, and others donated by past professors and musicians. Among its distinguished collection are an oboe belonging to Carlo Palanca, a fragment of a clarinet belonging to Adolf Sax, a flute belonging to Boehm, a crystal flute belonging to C. Laurent circa 1814, a grouping of de guitars from the Romantic Era and a collection of Chinese instruments donated in 1891 by Wals & Merino. The hallmark of the collection is “El Boissier”, a violín circa 1713 crafted by the Cremonese violin maker Antonio Stradivari, donated to the Conservatory in 1909 by the great violinist, Pablo Sarasate.  For more information please see their website:
