Announcing “KLIMT, Artist of the Soul”

KLIMT: The Artist of the Soul, is a multidisciplinary creation by Spanish pianist Emilio González Sanz and the international artistic collective Oncepersonas Kulturforum. Via an original presentation in which music, dance, poetry and the visual arts converge, KLIMT: The Artist of the Soul is an homage to the groundbreaking Austrian painter Gustav Klimt, in the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth: with a duration of one hour and 15 minutes, the spectator will experience a concert of classical music (mezzo soprano Anna Tonna; tenor Angelo Marchese and pianist Emilio González Sanz) performing repertoire that has been chosen in connection with Klimt’s most emblematic paintings, upon which illustrations by Patricia de Andrés will be projected and accompanied by piano solos, songs by Ravel, Wagner, Duparc and Schubert as well as contemporary dance with choreography by Elna Matamoros. Intermingling with the live performance, like a DNA spiral, is a projection of an original video creation by Andrés Amorós ; the video creation will project images over 11 poems based on the play Salome of Oscar Wilde, written by poet Francisco M. Quirce, with music composed by Sonia Megías. Dancer and actress to be announced will interpret the role of Salomé with actor Lusi Bondía in the role of St. John The Baptist in this original video creation, while dancer Cristiane Azem will interpret the role of Salome live on stage. With staging by Victor Pliego de Andrés, conference and program notes by musicologist José Luis García del Busto and costumes by Samuel Pertegás,  KLIMT: Artist of the Soul promises to be a unique artistic experience that brings today’s concert going public closer to the essence of Gustav Klimt and his art.

KLIMT: Artist of the Soul debuts in Madrid (Spain), Vienna and Salzburg (Austria) in November-December of 2012, and is an officially sponsored event by the Austrian Embassy and Cultural Forum (Madrid, Spain), the Austrian Tourism Office, The Museum of Romanticism of Madrid, The Scientific and Cultural Atheneum of Madrid, The Royal Conservatory “Superior” of Music of Madrid and The Fernán Nuñez Palace with its related foundation, The Museum of Trains RENFE y ADIF (Madrid, Spain).
